Rental Period

Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is 11 a.m.
During the peak season, our rental period for the Birches and Lakeside is by the week (Sunday-Sunday). We can accept partial weeks (with a two-day minimum) during the summer at Birches or Lakeside if not previously booked and your request is within a week of your arrival date. Oak Leaf and Bower Cabins are available with a two-day minimum during the week and a three-day minimum over the weekend during peak season.

A 100% deposit is required upon making your reservation.

In Case of Cancellation

If you need to cancel your reservation after making the deposit and receiving confirmation, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to re-rent your cabin. We have a two-week cancellation policy. If your cabin is rebooked, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel more than14 days in advance of your reservation and your cabin isn't rebooked, you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel within 14 days of your reservation and the cabin isn't rebooked, your payment is nonrefundable. All refunds will take place on the first day of your intended reservation.

Pets are not permitted in the cabins or on the grounds at Graylag. If you need to travel with your pet please notify us prior to your arrival and we will make other arrangements for your pet during your stay. Sorry, but we do not make exceptions to this policy.

Smoking and Fire Safety

All Graylag buildings are nonsmoking environments. Because fire safety is a primary concern, if you do wish to smoke outdoors, please make sure that all smoking materials are fully extinguished and placed in a trash receptacle when you are finished. You are welcome to make a campfire at the fire pit adjacent to the waterfront or at the Ledges fire pit between Birches and Oak Leaf Lodge -- for the safety of all, campfires are not allowed at any other location (each cabin has its own charcoal grill).

Graylag’s waterfront features a beach area, dock, raft, canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, a sailboat, paddles, and lifejackets. There is no lifeguard on duty. You are responsible for your own safety -- all swimming and water activities are at your own risk. N.H. state law requires the use of lifejackets while boating for children 12 and under, and we recommend them for all others for your safety. Children 12 and under MUST be supervised at all times when at the waterfront.
Sounds travels across the lake, so out of respect for fellow guests and our neighbors on the lake, we ask you to leave the waterfront area by 10 p.m. To ensure our guests’ enjoyment of the private waterfront, please notify us if you have friends visiting you at Graylag who want to use the lake.

Hiking Safety

Our trails are well marked, but if this is your first time in our woods, we can familiarize you with the different paths and terrain before you venture out. For general safety, it is not advisable to hike alone in the woods. Always bring a flashlight, as well as a hiking map of the trails, available here on our website and in laminated form in your cabin.

Native Plants

We are avid gardeners and have carefully nurtured areas of beautiful native plants at various points on the property, including the bog garden near the waterfront. Because these wild plants are fragile, and because we harvest the seeds for new plantings, do not walk in these gardens or pick any of their contents. Wild blueberries grow at various locations on the property, and you are welcome to pick them in season.

Graylag Etiquette

We enjoy hosting people from many different cultural and religious backgrounds. We have families spending time with their children and adults looking for a quiet getaway. Lots of good times and far-ranging conversations happen along the trails and in our common areas around the fire pit or at the beach. We want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome while sharing this communal space, so please be respectful and considerate of the other guests.

Visitor Policy

Our four cabins share the grounds of Graylag and the common resources like the boats and seating around the beach and waterfront fire pit. These resources are more than adequate for the Graylag guests; however, they can become strained if our guests invite additional visitors. So before you invite friends over, please check with Graylag's Director Operations, Carla, about how we can accommodate your visitors.
